New Friends!
So, it's been quite a while since I last posted in this thing. Last week was beyond crazy (was it really last week? It's all blurred together for me now), and so is this week, but I'm disregarding that fact and blogging, because that's my life.
It is now about a month into the semester, and guess what guys, I made new friends! Yay me! I'm somewhat socially adept with other people (or adept at hiding my strangeness)! These exciting new people are three friends that I made in my math class that runs for two hours every Monday and Wednesday. That means that I spend upwards of at least four hours a week with these people, so it's kind of a good thing that we're friends. The four of us (myself, another girl, and two guys) ended up being seated randomly next to one another, and that worked out surprising well, and as they say, the rest is history.
It's actually really surprising for me to have made friends as quickly as I did. I'm normally pretty shy around new people, at least for the first couple days that I know them, and so making friend, especially in a college class, is kind of hard for me. However, with these people, I was joking around with them by the end of the first class.
I like having friends like these. They're cool people, and they're friends that I made, all on my own. This isn't some cog in the big co-group of friends that I have with my roommates and such. It's nice to have a separation from that large group every once in a while. They're people that I can talk to if I see them in the halls, and we have 'study' sessions together (the 'study' is in quotations because all we do is really sit around and talk, no studying involved), and it's just nice.
I've never really had friends in my classes either. Yeah, I have one or two people that I know going in, and I sit by them, but we're already friends. Making friends is just so much more of an accomplished feeling, and it's just really nice (sorry, I feel like I've reiterated this fact several times, but it just is!). Having a group to talk to, and to study with is a nice atmosphere. Before college, I lived far away from my school, and no one from my school lived anywhere near me, plus I didn't have a car or licence until that summer, so study buddies just didn't exist for me. And now I have them! Studying with people is so much more fun than studying alone.
Having/making friends is such a great feeling. It's one of those things that makes the day brighter. I tend to start the day in a bad mood (waking up puts me in a bad mood), and then I see people that I know throughout campus who make me smile, and after seeing over, like, five people, my mood is significantly better than it was before. Friends are just really nice.
Sorry that this was ramble-y and pretty disjointed. I just wanted to write something, and this is what it turned into.
Much love!
